CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) - What is it?
One simple definition is that CSR is about how businesses and organisations - no matter how big or small - manage themselves to produce an overall positive impact on society and the environment.
The Best Western Lansdowne Hotel recognises that we have an obligation to CSR and it is our declared policy to carry out all reasonably practical measures to improve environmental performance. We are a 'Plastic Free Champion', awarded to us by Surfers against sewerage.

We have undertaken the following to enhance the environment and our local society:
- We recycle cardboard, paper, glass and plastic.
- We fit energy saving light bulbs wherever possible throughout the Hotel
- Bed linen and towel policy in place
- We aim to source food locally to reduce food miles
- Waste cooking oil is recycled
- When purchasing new equipment we endeavour to purchase only A rated appliances
- Bedroom televisions are turned off and not left on standby
- Heating and hot water boilers are controlled by timers and thermostats
- All new showers and toilets are low water usage appliances
- Local charities supported
- Local Schools supported by means of career days and work placements
- Hotel guests encouraged to recycle
- Recycle ink cartridges
There is always more we can do and this list is constantly updated to ensure we do all we can to minimise our carbon footprint. We want to make sure our impact on the planet is a positive one.
